Art class homework.

I went to a mixed media art class yesterday. It was great fun. My art teacher was wonderful and inspirational. What was not such great fun is that I was given homework. At school I was an ace at homework. I always did my homework and  followed instructions to the letter and always got top marks for my efforts. Anyhow, because I do not know how to work with colour (by my own admission) I was given lots & lots of tiny coloured fabric rectangles and told to go home and arrange them on small squares of paper in pleasing combinations. So how did I end up making this?

Lots and lots of bunting - stitched carefully by me onto suede string. With my sewing machine.

Ain't my art teacher gonna get a surprise? Hahahahaha!

The mug that looks like a cup.

I have purchased quite a few little presents for myself over the past few months, but have had no time to post them yet. Most of them have been from markets and car boot sales.

From the Easter Market a few months ago - this beautiful handmade ceramic mug. It looks like a largeish cup, but as it comes without a saucer, I think I am allowed to call it a mug.

Plant.

I truly didn't think this would work.
It took a while before I saw roots ...

and almost two months before I started seeing the first signs of a leaf ...

Put a sweet potato in a jar and fill with water until the water just touches the bottom of the sweet potato. Leave on a windowsill to get lots of light. Top up the water when needed.

Have a great weekend everyone - go grow something!

Tights.

My goodness, I was quite shocked when people asked whether I actually wore my pink stamped tights. OF COURSE I wear them!

But not to meetings with the publisher, I hasten to add.

Bag it.

I usually dress in black or charcoal or brown. But when I go grocery-shopping, I need a bit of colour to make the experience more interesting. I have a load of colourful reusable grocery bags from Woollies - in lime, pink, sky blue, orange, red and (how did you guess?) brown and black.

I used a bit of leftover felt to decorate this one.

(The design is not my own unfortunately; I adapted it from a picture I had cut out of a magazine.)

New art.

Not my own, alas, but a new artwork I purchased a few weeks ago. I am totally in love with it.

Stamp.

I stamped a pair of pink tights using a rubber stamp and black fabric paint.

It looks quite cool, I think.

Fantastic News!! New Weight Loss Programme!

Dear Friends, I cannot wait to share this exciting news with you! I have discovered a fantastic new weight loss programme.  I have lost 3 kg so far. What is more, I even get PAID to do it! And it is so simple!!
Here is how it works:

Accept an editing project from publisher (name deleted). Make sure that the commissioning editor is (name deleted), and above all, insist that the author is (name deleted). Throw away any project schedules that you may receive from them; as they don't keep to them at all. Add to your rubbish bin the contract; it is totally irrelevant! Expect to do about 50% work on this programme for which you will not be paid!

And then watch the kilos drop off one by one. WOW!!!
It works, and I am the proof.
