Yay Yippee Yay Woo Hoo and all that ...
Dear friends, the master set is finally signed off!! Oh, I am so happy, I'm so happy, tra la lalala la laaaaaaaaa!!
Freedom, freedom at last ...
I will be visiting you on the weekend (today I am first going to celebrate, so I may not be in a fit state to see you tonight). I hope you will all still recognise me - wan and pale and trembling from nervous exhaustion. But HAPPPPYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!
Have a great weekend. Celebrate something!

New Acquisitions #9
Found at the car boot sale two weeks ago ...
I now have four old scales - two from Germany, one from Australia, and my most recent one, which looks Scandinavian, I think.
You may wonder why I post this litany of acquisitions. I have decided to keep a catalogue of what I buy (apart from necessities and groceries) in an effort to understand why I buy stuff. I like each of my posted nine acquisitions - not exactly love, but like. I don't need any of them. I did not go searching for any of them. Yet each one caught my eye and has found a space in my life and a use - even if only as decoration (2, 3, 5). Some have turned out to be quite functional, although I did not initially buy them for a reason (1 is used for meditation, 6 to warm my neck on chilly mornings, and I use number 4 on occasion to play one of those memory games as a bit of brain exercise - have to keep the Big A at bay, you know). One was specifically purchased for its entertainment value (8), another for its creative potential (7) and the last one (9) I'm afraid was purely to extend a collection.
The rule of 'one thing in, one thing out', does not really work for me. I really like the things I buy, so I do not necessarily want to get rid of something just because I've bought something new. Do you acquire stuff that you don't need? And why?

New Acquisitions #7
That felted scarf inspired me to drive to Muizenberg to get some felting wool - in off-white and grey! What shall I make? Linda Sue has given me some ideas - I will have to keep it simple though, with my car boot sale 2nd hand felting needle and sponge ...
It is L'Usband's birthday today - I am taking him to lunch and to a play tonight. Happy Birthday, L'Usband!!

New Acquisitions #6
This felted scarf in off-white & grey merino is a creation of skaapie. It keeps my neck cozy in a most agreeable manner. (I got it at the Saturday market in Tokai forest.) It has also inspired another acquisition which I will show tomorrow.

New Acquisitions #5
I have a whole week of new acquisitions lined up. You will think that I have been shopping up a storm, but you must remember that these represent two-and-a-half months worth of shopping. That doesn't sound so bad, does it?
This knitted dog was made by a Zimbabwean woman - she was selling them outside the hotel near our house. She had a whole row of sweet little animals. I didn't see her again - I wonder what happened to her? I know that some Zimbabweans left the country after threats of xenophobic violence were made after the World Cup - was she one of them?

New Acquisitions #4
I coveted these when I first saw them - I love all the artists featured. Also, I have a thing for cards - playing cards, tarot cards, post cards, ACEOs, and yes, even kids' games such as Happy Families. The first lot sold out before I could get my act together, and then I saw on Esti's blog that I had another chance to order them. Yay! It is like having 32 miniature works of art. (See here for all the artists).
Have a great weekend everyone. Be a Happy Family.
