Well, I am still proofreading, but in the little bits of time in between, I made myself something. I first learnt about I-cord knitting on Anjie's blog. It is kind of like French knitting, but you use knitting needles (with sharp ends on both sides). Boy, what fun. You knit and knit and knit and this tube forms that closes itself up. It is like magic! Anyway.
I wanted to make something quickly, like in the 10 minutes between proofreading sessions. Not for me the beautiful cable-knit jersey knitted over months, or the heirloom blanket crocheted painstakingly over years. No, I want immediate gratification, I want to make something and I want it NOW.
So I made some bangles.Oh, the colours are a bit bright - leftover cerise wool with orange car boot sale buttons - and not really suited to my black and charcoal grey and chocolate brown wardrobe, but what the hell. I need a bit of colour in my drab proofreader's life.

I love these - could I please maybe use the idea for a future Tuesday Tutorial? As for your needle felted t-shirt ..... I would maybe tie it up in a pillowcase to wash it (and keep my fingers firmly crossed)
Instant gratification is my kind of needlework. Anything bigger than a potholder and I go bonkers.
great idea! they look really cool
thank you for your kind comment! really apprechiate it
These are AWESOME! I don't know how to knit I am totally impressed and envious! These are cool!!! Glad you are taking time out for pink and orange! I posted something to you yesterday, the post guy said that it would take about one week to get to SA. Then it's in their hands and may take several weeks...Dang- I want instant! Right now!So keep on the lookout...
LOVE
very cute!
My instant gratification would be tying a knot to make a circle with yarn. I think I am the last living woman who can't knit!!! I hope what you are proofreading is interesting!
I am all for instant gratification! They will really be the star of the outfit when you wear them.
This type of knitting sounds interesting.
Ooh I love doing this but only know the french knitting way. Someone bought me a kit to knit a scarf with a similar principle. It was wonderful, it grew and grew - I finished up all the wool in a day. One problem - it was a child's kit and the scarf was only big enough for my dog! (And he's not keen on being dressed up!)
Oh lovely! I'm sure it will pup out on your grayish clothes.
how funny, my mother-in-law just taught me how to make these cords earlier in the week when she was visiting. i loved them. i thought about making links - how did you attach your ends for these bangles? did you just sew them shut?
I love these and the colours are so cheerful. YOu have an interesting blog, I'll come back and visit.
