Weekword: Story

Yippee Yay - weekword is back! Rachel has chosen this week's word and has a list of all the contributors. As I have little time I am posting something old. About 10 years ago I had this terrific idea of writing the story of my life - in comic form. I started with the birth of my brother - as this is my earliest memory. But oh goodness, the effort involved to draw all those frames! I finished one more strip, and that was it. (The story of my life, indeed ...) Maybe I will continue one day - Jesse's book here is a great inspiration to me. The only difference being - she can draw. Oh, well...

PS Most of you won't be able to understand - it is in Afrikaans. Also, there are two bad words in there. Forgive me.

Thanks Anairam-that's true!
I love your little strip-though I can see how it would be a big job to do your whole life! I think it is drawn well-very lively and expressive.
I think my earliest memory is something to do with going to a pub-a nice country pub, but a pub nonetheless. Did it bode badly I ask myself.

I like this idea! And your cartoons are very good I think. I did something like this a while back, but it was a "life map"... not as much detail, though, as a comic strip. You can see it here:

Thanks for sharing and for the idea. Looking forward to another word next week! B.

I love this and your drawings are great! Your reaction to the baby's arrival made me smile - you poor little thing, after all that excitement and anticipation. I bet your doll was glad of it though :)

My earliest memory would not make nearly as interesting comic strip material - it's of sitting in our garden in Swaziland, pulling up carrots and being very proud of myself for doing it... strange one to hold on to I've always thought, of all the impressions one might collect.

p.s. hope you had a lovely time in Hermanus! Did you see whales or is it too early yet?

Great comic! I hear that autobiographical comics are all the rage now; perhaps just one more page would do it?
