and now use it to cover a cushion on a low stool in my livingroom. The different fabrics I used have special meaning for me - one is a piece of cloth given to me by a lovely friend (and intrepid traveller - geographically and emotionally) when she came back from Zanzibar; one is from an old but loved pair of pyjama pants, another from a tango dress; another from a pair of jeans that became so frayed from wear that I had to cut it off. The brown check is from the very first cushion I made for myself when I left home and moved into a flat 31 years ago. We have all come a long way.

Most wonderful work of stitchery, Anairam. And a reminder of a lot of good things as well. It's like the quilts my mother made with fabrics from her sewing of clothing sometimes long worn and gone.
I wish I could visit you and see your home (especially NOW since you have summer) and see your creativity first hand.
Beautiful. Zanzibar meets pyjama pants, the true meaning of patchwork. Love everything about this, especially the decorative stitching.

Beautiful. I've been meaning to make a quilt from my old clothes that I don't want to throw away but realistically I will never wear again. Some of them hold such memories. Well, I cut them out 2 years ago ....!

the art of quilting eludes me every bit as much as the quilts themselves enchant me. it's putting together the right pieces, which i cannot manage, and here it is amazing that you did it by following your connection to the fabric, rather than a planned scheme, and then to have a result like this...wow. and lucky.
