profiteri #10 - The Librarian.

profiteri - (Latin) 'declare publicly' (see profess)sense 1 derives from the notion of an occupation that one ‘professes’ to be skilled in.

Oh yes indeed, he is very skilled at shushing people. He commands respect, shames you for overdue books. As you pay your late fee you will most certainly hear him say "tsk-tsky-tsk". He, rarely tardy, smells of cauliflower and gingivitis, lives alone. You never question why. He is most familiar with the card catalogue that has been in the library since before the turn of the 19th century.
Computers will be the downfall of intelligent life on the planet, he is convinced of that, has seen it first hand, does not allow them in his sacred, fusty library. He is most successful in his profession, there is none other than he.It was observed, at last month's librarian convention, that he did win all of the honours.. was also the only one in attendance, which was of little consequence, for he graciously accepted with a spell binding 45 minute speech.
