Unnecessary Necessities

I was considering a few days ago how there are objects that I feel are absolutely necessary to my life. Whereas in fact, they really are not necessary at all, and I have done without them perfectly well in the past. So I started a moleskine series ... I will post more next week.

What are your unnecessary necessities?

Work update: Well, I am still busy (not nearly finished ... see below)  and reading about amazingly interesting things - like hydrogen displacement reactions and mutual magnetic induction and Lewis diagrams and so forth. Riveting stuff. But hear my little tale of woe: I worked flat-out from last Wednesday evening to Monday afternoon, throughout the weekend, up to 2 am some mornings. Yes, I was cross-eyed and hunch-backed and jittery from caffeine-overdose and my fingers stained with red ink, but I was a proud woman! I had finished more than half of the pile! And then the publisher emailed me (too damn scared to pick up the phone, I'm sure) to notify me that (unfortunately) they had given me an older version of the text. By mistake. WTF??? Yes really, dear friends, these things do happen. But, I ask myself, why do they always seem to happen to me? Oh, I can write a book about the publishing industry.
And I will.
One day.

Of course they will pay you for what you have done already- their mistake should not be taken on by you...Someday you will have had enough and you will let your middle finger fly in the face of it all!

=8-o I'm with Linda Sue. They'd better pay you for all that red ink even if it IS their mistake. When stupid stuff like that happens at my work I dig out my philosophy of--

"Remember--it all pays the same, it all pays the same." Sometimes that helps a little.

OMG! Oh, you poor thing! That is so terrible! Things like that have happened to me too. I hope there was something you can say you gained from the experience, if not only that it made you somehow stronger, (and maybe ask them to double check next time.) I hope you made a nice cup of teas and had a relaxing bath after that one! Hugs!

Poor you!! My most unnecessary necessities are empty winebottles (the ones with the quirky labels). Maybe one day I will do something with them!!

I have come to cheer you up-you may have seen this already, but if you haven't you must! They are brilliant and one of those things where I wished I had thought of it myselg!

if it makes you feel better, it's not only the publishing industry. i relate so well to your work update. hang on!

i am in tears for you! how irresponsible of that publisher... that is close to unforgivable. WTF is right! that would make a great title for your book, too! (you could subtitle it Woeful Tales of Fra(a)iing...)
