Lantern.

Work has reared its ugly head and once again I'm swamped with words.
Words, words, words.
So many words!
I am quite tired of them.
However, I do try to live up to my word for the year and be present in the moment (of editing, in this case), but every now and then I escape and spend time doing something else. Via annekata I found these divine vessels by Sylvia Marius (click on the Made By Hand link - they are incredibly beautiful!) and decided to try out my own version - changing it into a lantern.

I made the circular wire shapes too similar in size, so it ended up as a long tube. Also I did not have a lot of wire to experiment with. (I have since found some in the garage which I will use for my next attempt.) The fabrics used are bits and  pieces I have in my box. But it looks quite pretty over a glass hurricane lamp with a candle inside.

Good luck with the work! I love your lamp - yet another idea to file away!

Isn't her work incredible? Love the lamp shade you created. I can just imagine the lamp being lit. Wonder if it was difficult to stretch the fabric enough to make the structure nice and tight?
(Please don't mind my "Kauderwelsch")
Wishing you luck (and fun if possible) with the words.

The vases and your lamp are quite beautiful. I'm going to have to try and make one myself. Now to find some pieces of fabric in this non-sewing house...

Anonyrat - I find that non-sewing houses often are gardening houses! Perhaps you can use some old gardening gloves or hessian if you have no other fabric at hand? But seriously, you are in the enviable position of being able to go out and buy some nice bits of fabric that will actually match!
