Patchwork.

I am busy making a small patchwork - again using only scraps of fabric I already have. (For the first time I am using batting, which of course I did have to go out and buy.)

As you can see I am covering the entire piece with running stitch. Somehow I thought this was my own entirely unique idea, and then a friend told me about kantha. Oh well, nothing new under the sun, I guess.

I am not familiar with 'kantha' whatever it is they copied you I am sure! I really love the simple stitches- this looks so friendly and cuddly. Love the colours, too!

(Maths will pop your brain..just warning you.)

Someone else may have something SIMILAR to what you are doing, but the one in your photo is totally an Anairam original. Nothing like that anywhere, I'm positive. Linda Sue has it right--friendly and cuddly.

Did you put the running stitch through the batting? When I saw it I thought of sashiko. I will have to look up kantha.

That feeling that everything has been done - it can be very frustrating. But no matter how many people have done a running stitch, they've never done "your" running stitch! It's the hand, more than the idea, that makes something unique.
