Art is Consolation

Heard in a lecture I attended last week: Art is consolation in the face of Chaos.

So true! Love your interpretation of it too. I am two chapters in to Interior alchemy-it is just my sort of book.Did you get my email with the info about the article? If not then I have the wrong email address for you. If you did and it is right, I will let you know more about the book when I have finished it! Let me know!

Your page is fun and the quote is thought provoking. Sometimes art is comforting. Sometimes it is annoying. And, in another difinition of consolation--a prize for losers--a lot of people seem to consider those who spend time on art losers. Artists by one definition are "starving," because few get rich no matter how passionate they are about their work. But the self-satisfaction of creating is nice prize.

Now back to the spring salad: I had to translate coriander to cilantro, chick peas to garbanzo beans and pine nuts to pinon nuts. And I may have to order lemon infused avocado oil on line. But I am still going to go shopping for the ingredients,

i love that! i have finally made a desk just for arting out - though somehow don't find myself sitting there often enough, but when i do, it is magical and most wonderful "divertisement" from all the rest of busy life that contends for my attention

this is going to sit in me for a while. i like it very much. for it's truth. the reality of the thought is a bit sad.

Great journal pages...I love the last one too...the blue...it is a bit minimalistic...but it has power...I would totally confidently call it 'finished'!

I really need to do some smooshing then! ...a bit overwhelmed by everyday chaos at the moment. I love the way you've interpreted this in your journal!

yes, it's true, art is a sort of consolation, but art can be also a way of producing order out of chaos. love the drawing.

consolation and therapy too. what a sad, colorless thing life would be without art...
