The Power of the Other

I really enjoyed reading your interpretations of my previous art journal page. I call this one The Power of the Other after these two words popped out at me from the text on the page. Let me know how you interpret it. Again, I had something specific in mind as the page developed, which is really explained by the title!

Man! I'm the first to leave a comment and I'm so bad at interpreting art. All i can say is that your work is beautiful... and that life is easier when you are surrounded...

First thing I thought was "teach a man to fish..." but then I thought no that does not go with the title so what I am thinking now is perhaps the fish benefits by being caught because his wife smells like fish and he can't take it anymore..." and the man and boy get to have a good protein dinner.A give and take deal...
The pages are way more exquisite than my interp...I like them very much- VERY!

At first I was sidetracked by looking at all the detail of the pages, but my first thought on the subject was the feeding of (I think) the five thousand (Sunday School was a long time ago!!)

I think something along the lines of what Anne said-the loaves and fishes came to mind and then I thought about having faith and believing in a power greater than your self. Having faith that the loaves and fishes will stretch that far! Lovely page whatever the real meaning turns out to be. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

(Especially loved Linda Sue's comment :D) Thanks also for your kind comments on my latest post. As for your Power of the Other: I first thought of One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish--but I've been reading a lot of Seuss lately. Second thought, the guy has fish to feed his family but there are still Other fish left to make more fish. Nah, that's not it either. Your work is wonderful.

it feels almost religious - fish contained in a bowl - in their element, but out of their element as the man and boy carrying them with them - as if they are a special offering
i love the colors and black and white elaborate doodling
yeah

your pages have always been wonderful but they are getting even better as time goes by - so imaginative and full of potential meaning. i love wondering what is going on in your busy brain when you sit down to create these. thank you for sharing the evolution of your pages with us :)

Hey, you are really playing mind games or what, dear Suzi!
Poor little fishes in the bowl swimming round and round, maybe they feel free in their powerful(?) little minds and giggle at the humans who are keeping them in captivity!
