Plant.

I truly didn't think this would work.
It took a while before I saw roots ...

and almost two months before I started seeing the first signs of a leaf ...

Put a sweet potato in a jar and fill with water until the water just touches the bottom of the sweet potato. Leave on a windowsill to get lots of light. Top up the water when needed.

Have a great weekend everyone - go grow something!

Fun artsy shot of those hungry roots. I also like the focus contrast between the sweet potato and the book.

I'm not too keen on sweet potatoes, but we did something similar with an avocado seed. Then we wondered what to do with a baby tree. I think it finally went to live at the school where some poor patient teacher tossed it out at the end of the school year.

I have done this with an avocado pip in the past, but I tried it again recently and it didn't work at all!

Think I will pass on the potato growing thing- just another thing to take care of or let die and then beat myself up because I killed it...The only growing going on here is FAT- from cherries! YUM!
