Transparent.
A useful trick I learnt in my mixed media class - you can print on Vylene by simply cutting it to A4 size, and taping it to the corners of an A4 sheet of paper, with the glue side facing down (to the A4 sheet). Feed through your printer as usual.

If you are using sew-in, rather than iron-on vilene, you can back it with freezer paper (just iron it onto the vilene), then put it through the printer.

This looks interesting-not sure if I know what vylene is though. I have some very expensive printable fabric which is on a backed sheet. I have used a couple of sheets and have one which came out well of a drawing I did-and I was going to make it into a bag but it is temporarily lost in the piles of other stuff. Ah well. Look forward to seeing what you do with your printed vylene!
