Market buys ...

I visited the Tokai Fresh Food Market on the weekend, and for once I did not stuff my bag (or myself) full of edible goodies (although I did succumb to a delicious pecan chocolate brownie), but focused instead on the wearable goodies ... and got myself these:

... a sweet felted heart brooch by skaapie (her creations also sell at Blossom and Beatnik Bazaar - both in Kalk Bay)

.... and a great T-shirt with original designs by artist Ian Hunter of Signs and Wonders, based in Muizenberg. This design is called General Apathy and Major Boredom - I really love the idea of wearing someone's art (although I do not think the name is applicable to me - at least, I hope not!) The T-shirt is quite big though, so I am thinking of changing it into a skirt ...

Love the felted heart, I need to do something like that on the cushions that I am sewing up. I found some grotty old curtains at a charity shop which washed up really well and are about to be "upcycled"

thanks for the inspiration!

And you know what the shirt will say about it's becoming a skirt - "yeah, whatever, I could care less WHAT you do with me. Call me when it's over"

Can't wait to see the skirt! I also fancy wearing art, but so far it has just been an idea! The felt heart is so beautiful!!

What a brilliant t-shirt! And it'll make an excellent skirt. I am quite fond of felt as you know so that little heart is just irresistible. Perfect on a coat, hat, bag, scarf, jersey, cushion... oooh so many lovely ways to enjoy it! Great buys!

There's a little envelope on its way to you... should be there any day now as it's landed on your shores.

I've heard that this market is good, and you've just confirmed that. I'll have to come and look....
