I Spy

For no particular reason I seem to be on a kind of spy-streak at the moment. I have just finished watching the BBC series (1979) of John le Carre's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Before that it was The State Within and before that State of Play (also BBC productions). A while ago I discovered the Ashenden short stories by Somerset Maugham, and at the moment I am reading Steve Coll's excellent Ghost Wars for which he won the Pulitzer. It gives a riveting account of the CIA's involvement in Afghanistan, and the origins of al-Qaeda. Fascinating reading. Scary for many reasons. Why would anyone choose to be a spy? I have no idea.

(Two quick doodles in my moleskine. Yes, I know my perspective is all cock-eyed and what is meant to be the pavement looks like light falling from the wrong direction and what is meant to be the light looks like weird raindrops. Let's just leave it at that.)

lol! love your drawings, but what you wrote there in the end was exactly what i thought it was: light falling from the other direction and raindrops. but i liked it like that, so i'll just pretend that's how it's supposed to be :)

Despite the quirks, your drawing does convey SPY so it works! One of my sister in law's relatives was a spy in world war two-when she told me that story I was just amazed-it sounded so glamorous and dangerous. I am sure it is the second one but not the first!

My neighbor is a spy...no, wait- a nosey busybody, I guess danger is the difference...

ha ha ha, i like your explanation of the second doodle. i totally understand "leav[ing] it at that."
anyways, i love them.
you tricked me with the title, because i adore "i spy" the tv show.

Typical of spies - keeping the raincoat and hat in the shower!

love the doodling and love the "airs of mystery" and spying over your way
i personally am always very fascinated by the human psyche and the whole murder mystery thing
but your reading sounds far more scary real than mine presently is

i'd be a nervous wreck as a spy! i think it takes a very special personality. like you, though, i love to read about them - wait - does that make US spies?

I LOVE seeing your doodles, and I love when people's perspective is off (Although I didn't notice in your art), because mine is always off, and it feels free. I don't like stopping and using a ruler, or measuring things, drawing straight lines. (My hubby says I just don't like to follow rules);)
Keep the doodles coming! :)
