Declutter and Make Something. And then Give Something Away.

Somewhere (I think it might be on Frayed At the Edge) I read about a challenge to use one's stash of whatever bits and pieces one hoards, and actually make something. I love picking up bits and pieces on my walks; I keep broken jewellery; sometimes I buy odd bits from car boot sales or junk shops, because I "might be able to use them for something". So I took out my boxes of bits, and made myself some chains and a pin ...

This one is called Red Mary. (Glass beads, wooden beads, round plastic disc picked up on one of my walks, a piece of an old rosary - with Mary medallion - found in a molehill, and a bit of broken earring.)

The Three Roses. (Vintage marcasite earring, opaque stone bead, silver rose clasp from 1940s bracelet, pink rose pendant, silver rose from broken earring, silver bit picked up on walk.)

Not quite finished yet - this one is called Angel's Harvest. (Small piece of painted wood broken off wooden Indian angel mobile after a too vigorous dusting by moi, small medallion, wired bead from broken earring, piece of rosary found in molehill, glass grapes bead, bee charm from old jewellery.)

The pin is called Sea. (Piece of old vintage chain, glass fish, sea horse charm, polished shell discs from old bracelet, key chain clasp found on a walk, sea shell picked up on our local beach.)

I am giving away the Sea pin and one of the chains. Leave me a comment and tell me which one you like best and why, and on Friday 29 Jan I'll pick the two winners!

I love the Three Roses one! I usually only wear silver but I love the colors on this one. Beautifully vintage as well. <3

This is Svetlana and I want to say that I do like the Sea Pin and maybe you can sent it to me or even my granny in Birsk? It is very nice, The Pin and not Birsk. There is no sea in Birsk and also not in Moscow. Also in Birsk there is nothing tp pick up. Please allow me to say again you are very clever and I wish i did have the family so clever.

Is that a trick question? a puzzle? They are all favorites , they are all beautifull and clever! You find GREAT STUFF and put it together so nicely, wildly, imaginatively! I have been collecting "finds" for years...that man took it all to the dump while in his passive agressive phase, I guess...I am especially fond of the pin and the shell, the sea - I get a feeling of fresh air and wide expanse from it. The sea, the view from your window, the sea that kisses your shore...i want to kiss your shore...I, too, am expansive! Puzzle solved- it's the pin!

I love the sea pin because I love oceans and I always collect things from the sea altho I have to admit that they are all beautiful in their own way...thanks for the lovely post, and I too am on the declutter path or mission (I hopped over from up town and saw your comment). Have a great one!

They are all lovely, but if I have to pick one, it would be the sea pin, because you have made it with a kilt pin!!

They are all lovely so it is a hard choice! And it made me laugh that the piece of rosary was found in a molehill-conjours up lovely story book images! I like the first one best I think-the red disc stands out so well and the fact it is called Red Mary I like as Mary is usually associated with blue.

Your creativity amaze me each day more and more! Such a wide variety and where do you find the time dear suzi?? I must have a peep at the real thing! You have a keen eye for "pick me ups"!

Thank goodness Le 'usband is still in place and hasn't (yet) been dispatched with the decluttered clutter ...

yes, they are so beautiful...I like best the one with the red disc, Red Mary (bloody Mary?). I love the fact that you have found some of the pieces out walking.

I got your parcel some days ago! Thank you, it was totally wonderful. The superwomen stickers made my son wild with excitement ... and then he good angry and envious that it was all for me. But we solved that (I posted about it today)

What a great creative way to declutter! And how lovely these creations are... you are SO talented. The pin is absolutely gorgeous and it's hard to choose a favourite chain but I think if I must, I love Angel's Harvest the most - something about the symbolism of the various elements, and you know how I luuuurrve a bit of purple! :) xo
