Happy #2

Art makes me happy.
I love looking at art. I can happily spend hours in a gallery just looking. Going back. Looking again. I probably drive people crazy. In a very tiny way I also collect art - sometimes something just speaks to me, and if I can afford it, well, it is so satisfying to have something beautiful at home to look at, isn't it?

This is the Diane McClean painting we acquired last week on our trip to the Karoo. The photograph doesn't do it justice, really. Looking at it makes me very, very happy.

Love the blue shade of that bowl. Not surprised that looking at it makes you happy.

Your comment on my 'muti' post made me laugh out loud :)

I LOVE what you wrote on my blog...so profoundly said. Yeah this is a beautiful artwork you have here..great purchase...so simple and gentle and pleasant to the eyes and heart. How about your own art, do you hang it on your walls?

LOVE the painting! At first I thought you were having us on...a real enamel bowl in a battered frame- I thought that you were going to be "HAPPY" about the bowl being empty because you ate all of the cherries that it held- something like that. This painting so appeals to me! You are a lucky owner!

What an amazing painting and such a perfect reminder of a lovely trip. I am slowly starting to acquire a little artwork or two, although mostly my budget only accommodates a print rather than the original. This probably doesn't really qualify as an art collection but they still make me very happy.

It is gorgeous!!! So simple and beautiful. I love figurative paintings. I also like the framing. Lucky you!
p.s. thanks for the visit. I'll probably be blogging soon. Still have a lot of work. I take breaks by visiting other blogs. It's a bit like chatting/gossiping around the coffee machine :)

i understand exactly what you mean - i love finding things that are not only happy for my eyes, but also pieces that i can tie to a particular experience - that way when i look at it, i can enjoy it in both the past and the present.

What a clever subject - and so well done. Art makes me happy too - but I have a constant tension - between trying to be more minimalistic and acquiring more art. It is so valuable you HAVE to keep it - unlike the junk I also love. Well actually I have to keep that too.

Ahhh.... Yes. Art, books, creating, old junk, blogging. We share so many pleasures. Isn't life sweet?
