Weekword: Wanderlust

I have a distinct memory from when I was a little girl - I am standing with my mom in front of a big window at the airport watching planes take off. Were we there to see somebody off? Or perhaps to meet someone? Or was it one of my ever-resourceful mother's ideas for entertaining four kids on a Sunday afternoon? I can't remember. But I do remember thinking: One day I too will travel - I will go on journeys.

Now that I'm an adult I realize that most of my journeys do not involve planes or passports...

You are so lucky to have such a wonderful head to travel through- saves a lot of cash and waiting time and is probably more rewarding! I would love to wander about there.
You have been busy- I have been missing you.
I love your illustration, the sweet memory and your clever mom.

I love your illustration! I can remember going to Prestwick Airport (in the west of Scotland)as a small child when it wasn't much more than a grass strip and a wooden hut!

Hi there, I to remember going to what was then DF Malan Airport to see my gran off when she went to visit her daughter in Durban. I must have been 9 or 10. I remember standing at the window and waiting for her to appear at the top of the steps. Turn and wave.

She always wore a coat and a matching hat... and she always carried under her arm a box with a smoked snoek, a present for a homesick family. A real taste of the Cape!

Girl, this is *GREAT*. Seriously... your interpretation is AWESOME. PERIOD.
"...ideas for entertaining four kids on a Sunday afternoon..."
that sounds soooo my mom trying to figurate out what to do with us (four kids, of course!)!
