Christmas is Coming ...

This year I made origami star garlands from book pages and glitter ...

... and paper chains decorated with birdies.

No tree this year - just branches from my rosemary bush hung with decorations ...

... and silver baubles nestled amongst shells and painted stones.

The ornaments I made last year are used again ...

... they make great gift tags.

I made a heap of these crackers. Yay - another dent in my tp-tube stash. The labels were cut from tea-stained pages and lettered in my very best handwriting (i.e. not my usual griffonage - such a lovely word that...)

So, except for my collection of Santas, which provides some colour in the hallway, quite a monochrome Christmas. Fairy lights will be added later this week, and then I'm done! Are you decorating?

Very nice and original decorations! You find amazing things to do with the printed page. My favorites are the silvery ornaments with the shells and the super cool painted stones. We decorated here. Or, at least, the family did. It was such a circus with youngsters helping that I just got out of the way and enjoyed.

Word Verification: pother--to make confused, trouble or worry. Good word for all the hoopla of the season. :D

LOVE your look!!! I got as far as unpacking my decorations so will be hanging them this weekend when I'm back in town. Although, I've decided I quite like the pile of baubles in the bowl where I put them in readiness so now I might need to find something else to hang up around the place. Perhaps some pretty paper and glitter is the answer 'cause yours look beautiful! I smile every time I see something that reduces the tp-tube stash. I have this vision of a cupboard where they're piled high and threaten to cascade out every time you open the door to remove a few for your next project!

Your decorations are lovely. I really like those origami stars. I have decorated already-I love the lights-some are up all the time anyway. I have two little trees this year-one on a little table and one on the rescued stepladder. They were a lot easier to decorate! At school we have been making pasta strings of food dyed(out of date) pasta. They are quite pretty.

I love your black and white theme - very sophisticated. We just have a jumble of things we've collected over the years. Sometimes I look at beautifully decorated and co-ordinated trees and think I'd like that .... but maybe not!!

I remember being totally impressed and inspired by your last year decorating in B/W- you have out done your self! All of your creations are wonderful- I want to copy you and it will be OK because I don't think you will be coming over here for christmas eve...kind of far...at least 12 inches...

this is so gorgeous, oh my gosh.
i am saving this page as a reference for next year, and i think i will have to get started in...august, no, make that july.
tape or glue for the chain links? do you ever feel guilty tearing out a book page? are the origami stars hard? this whole thing has me so excited - the effect is so personal, creative, beautiful, festive, sophisticated yet playful. i'm in awe.
and just so you know, i gaze lovingly at the teeny tiny book from you every day. it has a very prominent spot in my livingroom.

ok, motivated by your post, i hit the bookstore and youtube and thus far i've made a true, legitimate 4 point ninja origami star and... an 8 point star using double-sided tape. :(
how did you make that star at the top of your post??
