Recycling Heaven

Those who know me really well will know that I (rather obsessively) collect toilet roll and paper towel inners. No, I don't know why either. But I've always believed that one day The Truth would be Revealed. I would one day know how to re-fashion those ugly cylindrical bits of cardboard into something beautiful ...

... like Yuken Teruya's Forest made of toilet paper rolls (found via Oh Joy!)
I am in Recycling Heaven ...

As we speak, I am working on a project with cardboard rolls I have saved!

Crazy coincidence. Mine won't we as lovely as this, though ...

Wow, this is a whole level up from my lame attempts at recycling t-p rolls! Mine- advent calendar with little gifts for each day - a christmas tree with lights inside, and of course everyone's attempt at napkin rings for paper napkins- always looking very toilet paperish. I so admire talent that can turn the most mundane into elegance!

Err yeah, I was quite pleased with my Christmas-cracker-out-of-t-p-rolls project but now I'm just humbled and ashamed... Some people are just too clever for my good! ;)

Seriously, these are gorgeous!

I have no problems recycling cardboard toilet paper rolls quickly and with minimum effort: our doggie, Mr Pookles, loves playing with them. He can hear an empty roll being removed from miles away, catches it, pushes it around for hours and then chews it to pieces.

stephanie - Oh, what are you making? Please let me know, for I fear that my paper cutting skills and craft knife are not up to the intricacy and detail of this particular idea! I have a whole damn wardrobe full of them. Not ideas, paper rolls ...

linda sue - Hey, I like the advent calendar idea - I actually still have some paper-mached t-p rolls that I made with little lids for another project. I can recycle those as an advent calendar!! Will have to find some kids to give it to though, mine are all grown-up and serious now.

kendalee - I've also used them as Christmas crackers before. I'm sure yours are lovely though- you have such great taste and style!

anomymous - Oh, Mr Pookles sounds like the cutest doggie - he can come play with my t-p rolls any day!

If I show this to my husband, I think he will get very nervous. Probably throw the rolls away before they are quite finished - just in case! I love the humour and talent in this display!

freshly found - I've learnt to be quite devious when it comes to Collecting Stuff. Before Le'Usband realizes it I've got another collection on the go, and once I've got three of something, it's too late!
showpony - Thanks for visiting! Yes, they are pretty, aren't they? But no way did he do that with a craft knife! I just do not believe it. Maybe a laser or something?
