On Being Connected / Disconnected ...

Dear friends! The building that has been going on next door has turned into a bit of a disaster when the grader ripped our telephone cable and ADSL line to pieces earlier today. Let's just say that new and rather interesting swear words have seen the light of day!

Our neighbour (who is building) has now temporarily reconnected it with an old piece of telephone wire he found in his garage, so my words to you are winging their way along a scrappy piece of wire lying out in the open amongst builders' rubble! I am very grateful to him, as Telkom (our phone and internet service) will probably take several days to respond. Maybe he got tired of the dirty looks I was casting in his direction through our window!

The solution is not ideal (and I am already looking worriedly at the clouds gathering in the sky - can a piece of scrappy wire survive rain?), so if my posts disappear for the next couple of days, you will know why...

Strange how I've come to rely on this blogworld contact - I really felt quite suicidal at the thought of not being able to post for a few days! A bit obsessive I know ... Also, I have to finish that T-A-D challenge! I HAVE to!

I'm grateful to your neighbour too but supplying a piece of scrappy wire and reconnecting you is the LEAST he could do! I hope he is also letting Telkom know how angry the lady next door is going to be if they don't fix it properly and soon - she has an audience who are eagerly awaiting their daily T-A-D inspiration and delight, and don't like to be disappointed!!!

Seriously, I really hope they sort this out for you soon Anairam. If not, use the time to do some deep breathing, count to 10 a couple of times, and know we will be missing you. But here when you return.

Oh and eat chocolate. Situations like this call for chocolate! x

kendalee - Oh, goodness, I felt quite guilty because I was really giving him my worst look (and it can be withering, I've been told). I did go to thank him for getting us up and going again, because truth be told, I was VERY grateful! But part of me feels like you do ... oh, and those Lindt slabs are coming in very handy at this time!!

Linda Sue - You are SO sweet! But be careful, when the building gets about shoulder height and my view starts disappearing, you may hear a knock late one night at your door ... and find a bedraggled and sad Anairam who will only be cheered up by LOTS of puppy-play! I think I might give the geoduck a miss though ...

just when we think we've exhausted our supply of curse words, situations like these arise which force us to invent new ones!

that is one clever neighbor you have!

Glad that you have been reconnected and seem to have stayed that way!

aimee - It runs in our family - the designing of apt swear words for special occasions! But I would never talk like that in public, oh my goodness, people might faint!

sarah - So do I! Am I being paranoid or is my internet connection so much slower than usual? That poor little makeshift wire is being shaken by the wind that has come up - and I can just imagine the little digital bits bravely battling their way up their shaky tunnel, over and between mounds of sand, to finally disappear down the Telkom pipe and on their way to the rest of the world. Oh, I feel like applauding them for arriving safely on the Other Side!!

freshly found - So far, so good!
