Recognising Inspiration.

I am looking through my art books in search of inspiration. I am not quite sure what I am looking for. And will I recognise it when I find it? But here are some images from Japanese Graphic Art (by Lubor Hajek), in the meantime ...

(Utamaro: Lovers under the Mosquito Net, c. 1800)

(Utamaro: Courtesan Hinazuma as an Allegory of Lu Tung-pin, 1790-1795)

(Eishi: Courtesans under Wistarias in Blossom, c. 1795)

Ouch! Pulling back the hair so severely must be hard on the eyes?

le'Usband - Well, I think they look pretty cool with their hairdo's. I might try the same - it will certainly get rid of a wrinkle or two!

They are beautiful! Have always loved how these Japanese scenes make even the most mundane moments look exciting and exotic.
