A B C

Paging through an old Vanity Fair today, I came upon a reference to Peter Blake's An Alphabet (published by Paul Stolper/Coriander Studio). It's a wonderful book, full of letters, and you all know how I love letters. Well, maybe you didn't, but you do now!

(Images above from Paul Stolper. View the other 23 here.)

Blake also created an alphabet of 'found' polaroid letters for TATE.
(Find the others here.)
Oh, dear, I feel a Project coming on ...

I'm so crazy about alphabets too ! if you have one minute, go and check "the peak of chic" blog. She had a post on a fabulous book with illustrations of stylized letters.
Have a great week end !

I share your passion! My best friend wrote an alphabet poem for me and then traveled all over finding post cards for each letter, each line, he died at "t". Suddenly, gone...
when son was little I covered his room with all sorts of alphabets, I can not stop even now.In my grief of losing my friend and my son growing up and leaving I ceremoniously burned the letters, the alphabets, the cards...I don't know why- grief does wierd things..

Here's a thought!
In Blogworld there must be letter lovers who would like to participate in a group effort- . like maybe one blogger takes three assigned letters, does their majic and sends them all to ...YOU!!!

linda sue - Alphabets are great! What an amazing gift your friend gave you - yes, it is weird what we do in moments of great emotion, but it was necessary for you to do that at the time, and meaningful as well. PS I like your idea of a group project - but I'm no good at organising stuff like that!

tiny red - I started today with a 'digital camera' alpahabet! Well, I've got an S and a C and an M ...

stephanie - I can't tell you how many beautiful books there are out there that I covet! Now I've added one to the list.

kendalee - I often wonder what it is that makes them so attractive - artistically I mean. I love when artists combine pictures with words, it does something to my brain ...
