The Art Journal Continues ...

It looks like saying something visually, without the use of words, is not an option for me ...

I like word play ...

It was the first really nice summer's day and I wanted to incorporate a bird, sky, sun and sea.

I finished Moral Disorder by Margaret Atwood a few days ago. She is one of my favourite authors, and the quote, said of one of the characters, resonated with me for a variety of reasons ...

Yay - I finally found a free typewriter font that I like! I've also used it in one of my new, still-to-be-finished pages ...

I love what you did in the 3rd pic Anairam! the quote is great indeed but it's the handwriting which is also very elegant !

I know that feeling, when one's head is full of words.

Lovely.

Ohhh these just send me into raptures! I really want to start doing this sort of thing after the new year or after this cold goes away! Margaret is one of my faves- I hear her every now and then on NPR- recordings of her reading- swoon! Your pages are awesome!
Did you go to the art exhibit?

her words
like birds
blinked and flew
and made trees blue
and skies made reds
with words like birds
nested in heads
everywhere where
everywhere

and by the way, that was dedicated to you, Anairam.

The bird, sky, sun and sea one makes me happy all over but my favourite from this series is the head full of words one, perhaps because I relate to it too. I love this journal so much!

PS - I will post my sister's but am only seeing her early in Jan, so don't want to give it away 'til then... :)

I alos love the green 'trees' n black caligraphy. It's such a weird thing thinking about you and your warm Christmases below the equator while the top half of the planet are grey and swathed in wooly jumpers...like where I am!

mcis - Atwood is one of my favourite authors - and this book is well worth reading. I am glad you like the handwriting!

stephanie - Yes, they just kind of swirl around and keep me from falling asleep!

linda sue - I love that you are always so positive about my creations! Which is your Atwood favourite? PS Yes, the exhibition was fantastic - one has to be a William Kentridge fan though, else it might have been a bit weird. The installation consisted of eight large video projections projected simultaneously - set to music by Shostakovich & some African acapella ...

anonymous - That is an absolutely lovely poem, dear anonymouse! I am very touched that you dedicated it to me - I am going to print it out and do a journal page with it ... Thank you!

kendalee - I'm glad you like the bird, sea and sky one. I'm not completely happy with it though and am changing some elements - will post it when I'm finished!

quail - I quite like the stamp I used for that page - and I used it on quite a few pages (some of which I subsequently covered with paint or pictures - it was getting a bit much!) Well, the solstice has been, so our days are getting shorter and yours longer - soon you will be out of those woollies!
