Yaaaaaaaaaawn ...

I guess that looking at the results of other people's creative endeavours is about as interesting as looking at their holiday photo albums. Yaaaaawn. But dear friends, I am afraid you are going to have to bear with me a little longer. It is as though I've been struck by a Zinging Artsy Craftsy Lightning Bolt from the Sky.
Here is the result of one of my online craft course projects. It is a little felt booklet with 16 tiny envelopes that I made from bigger brown envelopes. It closes with a button.
I have stencilled numbers on each envelope.I am not sure yet how I will use it. Maybe as a kind of advent calendar? For flat thingies like stickers and stamps and stuff? Mmmmm. Let me know if you have any ideas what I can use a tiny felt booklet with 16 envelopes for.
Tomorrow I may show you some Christmas decorations I made tonight. Or I may post some deep philosophical musings .... hahaha, not!

16 reasons why I love you- that could work...
I would like to have some of whatever it is that lit the creative fire under you this past week- WOW!
All I can seem to do is drink tea and sigh...
The little book is awesome- would make a great gift. Maybe I will try to make one.As soon as the creative fairy comes to sit on my shoulder.

Linda Sue - Oh, make no mistake, lots of tea-drinking and sighing happens this side of the world as well. But I think it is the proofreading job that did it - it really is mind-numbing work and a creative outlet is crucial. (BTW, you do not need a creative fairy, my dear, you already have a creative GIANT, well, maybe not sitting on your shoulder, but certainly living in your (beautiful) studio!

I LOVE seeing the results of your creative endeavours! Keep 'em coming... This week it's the closest I've come to crafting and it's been great to see what you've been up to. Inspiring!

This little book is adorable and Linda Sue's idea is a lovely one... Can't think of a better one than that!

I know how you feel! (More or less.) I attended an arts workshop this week in 4 different media and I am so inspired! Did free-line drawings and a felt cushion a la Karel Appel. Am going to plagiarise you and make a felt booklet with 10 envelopes with 10 notes/mini prezzies/pics for the love of my life for a new year's gift.

I think you should fill each envelope with a conversation starter. Things like
"bones I've broken",
"where I had my first kiss",
"this time next year I would like..."
"improvements I would love to make to my body"
"skeletons in my family's closet"'
etc, etc!
Then when you next have guests, you bring out the book and get them to choose a number, and tell their story!

Trish - Is that a book like in reading, or one of those cool journal books I've seen on your blog? Yes, you are right, I myself love looking at other people's creations and do not think it is boring at all - but everybody else's art/craft always looks so great! I just thought it might be boring to look at mine, because it is a bit rough - not accomplished, if you know what I mean ...

lenorevermore - I love it, but I guess I'll run out of steam some time! Mmmm, I still have to take pics of the decorations - they are pretty simple - just paper - and recycled at that. I specifically decided NOT to buy new paper and supplies but to try and make everything from stuff I already have.

stephanie - I also think Linda Sue's idea is a great one, and then I can give it as a Valentine's prezzie - to Le 'Usband of course! (Unfortunately he has already seen it ...) Sparking off her idea I thought to make a book of New Years', well, not exactly resolutions, but 16 things I would like to do in 2009 and then remind myself of them every now and then. But it is really best to give it as a gift to someone else - what's the point of writing cute notes and inserting them into envelopes if it is only for myself?

kendalee - You are so busy - I am really sorry for you and hope you'll be able to do something over your holiday! How's the book to your sister coming along? Or have you already finished it?

anonymous -Your course sounds super! I have always wanted to do something like that because I would really like to learn about different art techniques. You are not plagiarising me - the little envelope book is one of the projects we were given to do on my online craft course, so we are both plagiarising ELsie!

Freshly Found - That is a really cool idea - rats - too late for the Olive Lunch though. (Not that we needed topics for conversation there - once the wine started flowing we were solving the entire universe's problems!) But I like your idea - I can see a kind of supper game developing out of this, mmm, must think about it some more ...

Creative endeavors are fascinating, dammit!

This is rather adorable.
Put stuff collected on a walk or something in there? Leaves etc?
I dunno, I'm rubbish at all this meaningful type stuff.

Heather - I do find other people's creative endeavours fascinating (yours, for example!), but I'm not sure the feeling is mutual! Mmmm, stuff collected on walks - interesting idea, but I usually pick up stuff like old screws, funny bottle caps, bits of broken porcelain, etc. on my walks - not really suitable objects to add my little book. But leaves or pressed flowers can work ...
