The difference between uchiwa and sensu ...

Oh dear, I am sorry, but I'm still besotted. I have now discovered Okinawa Soba's flickr photostream with divine vintage pictures of Japanese ladies in kimonos ...







I've also learnt on his flickr stream that the fan above is an uchiwa fan (whereas the folding type is called a sensu fan)

I'm having a Japanese week too! I came across an English website today that actually deals in affordable vintage or recycled kimono fabrics-{excitment!}. To celebrate I made homemade teriyaki chicken stir fry!
