Words - A Paper Project

Let's just say that I am not too pleased with the result of my fourth paper project. (But I promised to post successes and flops alike.) First of all I couldn't find a wire hanger anywhere, so I had to make my own. (I have renewed respect for our local wire artists ...) Secondly, it just doesn't look as good as the one here. It is very unfair because I tried very hard. (Also, I am being very recycling-conscious and am using up all the leftover scraps of my paper vase and paper mobile projects.)

I even used a stencil to stencil the letters! (People who have seen my handwriting will know why.) I even used the beautiful second-hand thingy-tool which I bought at a recent carboot sale to punch in eyelets!!

Of course once I had tied the letters on to the hanger, I realized that they actually turn so I had to make letters on the backs too. But I couldn't use the stencil because the eyelets were already in and made it all bumpety.
So I lettered the backs myself which was a mistake.

Anyway, the final project is hanging above my desk. I think I may be taking it down soon ...

I love it! Love the fact that you even made the wire coathanger. Well done! Now that we don't have so much dry cleaning - where do we get wire coathangers?

I actually rather like the home-made hanger - that's dedication! (I hate wire, every time I try to use some the end wangs of and literally scratches up my eyeball)

By the way I'm in love with your eyelet tin!

Maybe you're being a bit hard on your little creation anairam? - I think it's charming! And I agree with heather, I especially like the hanger - it's way better than a mass-produced dry cleaning one...

how on earth did you make that hanger? that in and of itself is really impressive. the eyelet item adds such a beautiful touch, i'd be eyeletting up my whole home if one fell into my hands.
all that time and you think you will really toss this project? that would have been unthinkable to me a few years ago, but suddenly i'm finding myself more dedicated to doing something "right" - i am in the midst of knitting a pig (stuffed animals) and i actually undid a row of stitches and redid them when i found i had missed a step in the pattern - just to most accurately follow the instructions (very un-"me") and also today i rehemmed a pair of pants that i had hemmed last night, because the end result wasn't as smooth as it could be (also very un-"me"). there might be something in the air.

oh, before i forget, re. uptowndowntown, i am fairly certain that the "low" in high/low is not by any means a fashion don't. on the contrary the "low" is a key factor in the high/low trend.

Freshly Found, Karina, Sidsel of Spagat, Heather and Kenda-Lee - Well, I am glad that you like it! Maybe I should start a business making wire hangers for dry cleaners - naaaaaaah, just joking!!editor - That's very sweet of you! I must admit that the eyelet-tool is great fun. I only wasted about half the tin figuring out how to position them - now I hope I can get replacements. Ah, I admire you for redoing things - respect, mon! I am willing to scrap something that doesn't work, but redoing, mmmmm, much too lazy! (Thanks for reassuring me about the low bit of high/low - I was looking at my wardrobe last night and thinking, oh shame, poor sad wardrobe, you are oh so very low ...!)

aimee - You are so right! It is only by trying something that you work out what works and what not, and also it sort of helps to percolate those great ideas that are waiting to bubble up!
