I have to laugh when I look at my (various) lists of projects (planned, started, half-abandoned - but not discarded), and measure it against the tiny handful of completed projects. A beautiful illustration of an inverse relationship ... Also, to complicate the issue, I find that my excitement and desire for new projects grow with leaps and bounds exactly when I have to do other things, such as proofreading.
Anyway, I got this in a junk shop in Kalk Bay last week - an old wooden slide case. I actually bought it as a storage space for papers and drawings ...
but the contents gave me an idea for an art project ...
Five inserts with 48 spaces each to be filled! I am thinking of a series of heads (like these by Sarah), and/or a giant mosaic such as this one by the kendalee (using my own photographs), and/or a hand-drawn cartoon, such as this one by Jesse. I also plan to use one insert for yet another project (movie-related) which I will post about tomorrow. And maybe I can use one of the inserts in conjunction with my zine project (still in conception phase).
Oh, the possibilities are endless! Do you have any other ideas for me, perhaps?

How exciting! I got some apple cardboard holder things from the supermarket, not sure what for(and still have them!) but when I started making sculpey heads I was putting them in the littel holes and thought I would make 100 heads. I didn't, I made seven, and they are still in a box wondering what is going to happen to them!
This is such a great find-all of your ideas are good, I might do circles disappearing in different directions out of the little frames, or a whole picture which has the frame in front of it. I agree-the possibilities are endless. Looking forward to seeing what you do!
so many possibilities
! You will be needing more of these frames...When faced with "maybe this, maybe that" i usually become paralized and don't do anything...for years! What ever you decide will be wonderful I just know it! I love what you do ALL THE TIME!
That box is so cool! Also, planning projects it just as fun as doing them (I think), so I don't think it matters if they get done. Yeah, wise words there.
what a find! i can't wait to see what you do with it - and with your zine. meanwhile, i'm going to look for the food fairy. so far he/she is a no show, as are the laundry fairy, the cleaning fairy and the organizing fairy. i still cling to hope that they exist, although i'm starting to get disillusioned.
What a find! So looking forward to see what you do with it!!
I've been thinking - I think it is the perfect place for your fledgling key collection!
hmmm since 48 is close to 52 it may be fun to assign a square to each week for a year. Then you summarise each week by a little drawing or photo or note or object. and at the end you can look back over the year and ponder and wonder and smile (hopefully) ...
sarah - That is exactly what I am afraid of (and what will probably happen ...) seven or eight squares being filled and then I lose steam. However, I DID finish the TAD challenge, so maybe there is hope for me!
linda sue - I am already paralyzed - went to get some paper to cut for the little squares, and completely confused by the choice ... so I came away buying more black paper for using with my white gel pen. Maybe I must make 48 white gel pen doodles?
heather - Wise words indeed and as birdsong to my ears. I am appointing you as my Guru with immediate effect!
aimee - The problem is I have so many ideas but cannot seem to bring them together in one cohesive Thing! Oh dear ...
freshly found - The key thing is a rather nice idea, but the squares will be too small for some keys. Also, I only have four keys in my collection so far! But I like the idea of using it as a 'mount' for some collection.
anonymous - Oh, that is a marvellous idea - I quite like it! It will be a kind of miniature visual journal. I think I am going to do this - for at least one of those inserts!
What a GREAT find! I was going to say 48 things, pictures, objects, words that are meaningful in some way to you - favourite things, remind you of people etc. - but I think Anony-mouse's idea is even better! And perhaps some of those things could be keys?
Can't wait to see what you do with it. I agree with the others that whatever it is, it's bound to be fab! Glad you like my mosaics too - thanks you! :o)
kendalee - I like your idea too - it will probably end up being something in between a weekly journal entry and your description. Of course, the thinking about it is the easy part for me, it is the DOING part that gets me every time!
Ooh, what a gorgeous thing! I'm intrigued to see what you do with it!
I cannot wait to see what wonderous beauty you do to this box!
